What a whirlwind weekend! Isaiah James Heuer has arrived! Eric and I went to our appointment on Friday morning and had an ultrasound. Everything looked great! Fluids were great and baby looked great! So then we went to see the doctor. When she checked me I was already 4 cm. and I was having contractions so after checking with the hospital to make sure there was room for us, Dr. Voelkel sent us home to get our bags and told us to come back to be induced! WHOA!!! What a shocker that was for us! We were not expecting that at all but we were more than excited! So we ran out of there like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get everything together and in order to go have a baby! We checked into the hospital about 12:30 in the afternoon and the Pitocin started about 2:00. I progressed very well throughout the day and went through about three hours of pretty strong contractions before receiving an epidural. After the epidural, she broke my water and then things really went fast. I only pushed for an hour and Isaiah made his entrance at 10:31 p.m.

He weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is absolutely perfect! Eric and I find ourselves just staring at him and taking him in! It was the most incredible experience for us to bring him into this world together. We have always had a great friendship/relationship but it definitely feels much stronger now that we have gone through this miracle together! And what a miracle our Isaiah is to us! The love we feel is overwhelmingly incredible and it's eye-opening to realize that the love we feel for him is not even close the the love that our Lord feels for us! Thank you Jesus for the precious, precious baby boy! And thank you to all of our family and friends who have prayed for and supported us through this time! Thank you for your continued prayers as we go through this transition time! It's time for anther feeding so I need to get going but I will do my best to post pictures frequently of our growing angel baby!

Caleb Jay Taflinger is here!!!

Eric and I went to the hospital today to meet sweet Caleb and is he ever precious! It was so great to see him and his mommy and daddy!

Lisa looks amazing after just having a baby last night and she feels great too!

Caleb was born at 6 p.m. last night and weighed in at 6 lbs. 3 oz. and he was 20 in. long!

Everyone looked fabulous! What a precious little guy! Congrats to the Taflingers! We love you all!!!!

One Last Time!

Well, we had one last time to hang out with the Taflingers before their sweet Caleb Jay arrives. Lisa is being induced on Tuesday and we cannot wait to meet their new bundle! We met them, along with our great friend Casey in Westfield and had dinner, did some final parenting reading at Barnes and Noble, and then had gelato! It was a great time had by all! It's crazy to think that the next time we all get together, the Taflingers and the Heuers will each have new additions to their families!

Casey is a bit uncomfortable with pregnant bellies so this picture was way out of his comfort zone but we assured him that it would be a great memory! We titled this photo, "Wings"!

37 weeks!!!

Well, no baby today (unless he decides to come on his own!) but great news from the doctor! The fluid was up and the baby looked great! I had gained another pound this week and my blood pressure was very good. Dr. Voelkel measured my belly which was right on track and checked me and I am 2 cm. dilated and 50% effaced so it was GREAT to hear that my body is preparing for delivery! She could also feel his head so we know he's right down there ready to go! She wants us to get another ultrasound next Friday to check his size. She really doesn't want me to have a huge baby (which is such a blessing to me)!!!!!!! She also said we are going to set up an induction sometime the week of July 30. The gal who does the induction schedule wasn't in today so we will talk early next week to get that set up! It's not very likely that I would go into labor on my own seeing that this is my first baby but I suppose anything is possible! God's timing is perfect and we know that this situation is in His hands! We did feel a twinge of disappointment that we wouldn't meet him today but we know that each day he's in mommy's belly is another day that he's growing stronger! Thank you to everyone for your love, support and prayers! We love you all!!!

Practice

Yesterday I had the honor of watching Gage Farmer for the day! We had so much fun together and it was great for me to spend time with a precious little boy! We had lots of eating time, playing time, and as you can clearly see in the photo to the right, lots of slobber time!

And I think Gage and Derby formed a lifelong friendship! When they first met each other, Gage thought Derby was the funniest thing he'd ever seen. He just laughed and laughed! By the end of the day, they were even loving on each other!! :)

Thank you Adam and Natalie for entrusting me with your most prized possession! We had a fabulous day! It made me even more excited for my little man to get here!

Another Fabulous Shower!!!

This past week I had another fabulous baby shower...this time thrown for me by Eric's wonderful aunts Rachel and Becky!!! The generosity and thoughtfulness were unbelievable! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed in any way to make the shower an awesome night, anyone who was able to come to the shower, and to everyone who showered us with love!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

And I just have to say the food was awesome!

Eric and I are completely overwhelmed with the generosity of all of our family and friends. God has truly blessed us with amazing people in our lives!

We had our 36 week appointment on Friday that started out with an ultrasound. Each time we have one it gets more amazing to see our little man. He started out looking like a gummy bear and now he looks like a complete and chubby-cheeked little baby! We never like it when those moments in the ultrasound room end! Everything looked great! The reason for the ultrasound was to check on his size. Eric and I were both nine pounds at birth and my doctor wanted to make sure I will NOT be delivering a nine pound baby! So among many things we looked at, the ultrasound tech checked three things to determine his size. The length of his femur bone (which measured at 35 weeks and 6 days), the circumference of his abdomen (which measured at 36 1/2 weeks), and the circumference of his head (which was OF COURSE the largest and measured at 37 weeks and 1 day)! Based on these three measurements the average size of gestation is 36 weeks and 1 day. They are also estimating that he weighs 6 pounds and 3 ounces right now! A nice size little guy! :) One thing did stick out as a bit of concern to the doctor and that was my amniotic fluid. She said it is on the low side of normal which is ok for now but she wants us to get it checked again next Friday and if it has dropped, she wants to induce me to get him out of there! Eric and I are still trying to wrap our minds around the fact that this time next week, we could be holding our precious little boy! I will be considered full term so it would be totally fine if he DID need to come early!

We continue to work on the nursery and will post pictures when it is finished. Things are really coming together! Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We covet and appreciate the love we receive from our family and friends!

Evansville Shower

A couple weekends ago, my sister and some friends threw me a baby shower in Evansville. They all spent such a gracious amount of time and money to make it so wonderful! Everything was decorated in blue and it was such a great party!

A HUGE thank you goes out to all my family and friends who were able to attend. Your generosity was overwhelming and greatly appreciated! Let's just say this little boy is going to be one studly dressed guy!

While I was gone that weekend, Eric stayed home to work and one night he worked extra hard to put our brand new crib together! It was a huge surprise to me because I did not know he was going to do that! When I got home he had taken the furniture that was in the (now) nursery and moved it so there was room for our new baby furniture! What a great husband/daddy Eric is/will be! I love to see how excited he gets when something about the baby comes up! We are both SO anxious for our little guy to arrive! Our official due date is exactly one month from tomorrow...VERY hard to believe! Some days it feels like the pregnancy has gone slowly (probably mostly the days when I was sick!) and some days feel like it's just flown by! He'll be here before we know it!
