Noah - 2 weeks

Noah went to the Doctor today for a check-up and he checked out GREAT!  He has gained a whole pound since we were there last week and mommy was so thrilled about that!  He has really been a great nurser and has eaten so well!  He gained a little in his length and his head grew too so we know he is thriving!  The doc was very pleased with how everything looked and gave mommy and daddy both "gold stars" (as he put it)!  

We have been working with Isaiah on "smiling real big" and this is usually what we get!  He sticks his chin out and gives an extremely fake smile!  Pretty cute, though!
Here are my two little angels together.  Isaiah is becoming more and more sweet with Noah.  We're still working on being gentle but he sure does love kissing all over Noah!

21 months and almost two weeks

Well let me just say that my cup runneth over!  I am so head over heels in love with my two precious boys!  I am almost embarrassed to say it but there was a time I wasn't sure I was going to be able to love another little boy as much as I love Isaiah but it was instantaneous!!!!  I adore both of these children so much I can't even find words to describe it!  

Isaiah is 21 months old today (CRAZY!) and has been a bit under the weather.  I tried to get some pictures of him today so I could put a new one on the side bar and the one I put on here was the best I could do.  You can see in his eyes that he doesn't feel well.  I love his little lips, though!  He continues to do well with Noah in the house and will voluntarily go love on him.  He loves to kiss Noah's head!  

Noah is doing awesome and we can tell he is gaining weight.  He was born with full cheeks but I do believe they are a little fuller!  He is still sleeping lots and lots but has quite a few moments of wakefulness during the day.  We think Noah really looks a lot like I (Jennifer) did as a baby but he definitely has some of the same characteristics as Isaiah.  Noah goes back to the doctor on Thursday so I will for sure update after that, if not before then!

My next project is to get pictures of my angels together!

Noah's Birth Story

Last Thursday, April 16th, we had our 38 week appointment.  I had some pretty intense contractions the night before so I was guessing I had made some progress but I had NO idea how much progress had been made!  I just didn't know what to expect!  Dr. C measured my tummy first and I measured a week ahead.  Then came the other check.  FIVE CENTIMETERS!  I could not believe it.  In the same breath he said, "you are 5 cm. and you are going to the hospital tonight."  Eric and I were both shocked!  He called the hospital right there in our room and saved a spot for us.  He told us to get our things, grab a bite to eat and meet him at the hospital at 5 o'clock.  So, we got on the phone and called our parents and made arrangements for Isaiah.  All the while, we are completely shocked that I was walking around at 5 centimeters.  

We arrived at the hospital around 5-5:30 and got all checked in.  We filled out our paperwork and got all our information in the system.  One of the worst parts of the evening came next...my IV.  I apparently have very "valve-y" and very "roll-y" veins.  They blew THREE of my veins before they called in the nurse anesthetist to numb me and finally on the fourth try, we got the IV in place!  The doctor came in at 7:30 to break my water and I was still at 5 cm.  I got the epidural at 8 p.m. and at the next check I was 8 cm.  The epidural was a great thing on the right side of my body but for some reason, it never did work on my left side.  For the rest of the process, I felt everything on my left side but had no feeling on my right.  Once I was 8 cm, I could feel extremely intense contractions and pressure on my left side.  It was very painful every 30 seconds when I would get those contractions!  I was finally 10 cm. and ready to push at 9:50 but the Dr. had me hold off for about 15-20 minutes because he had 4 other women also in labor at the same time!  I started pushing at 10:08 and our precious Noah entered this world at 10:13 p.m.  I only had two sets of pushes!  Praise the Lord for a quick and easy delivery!

We are all pretty tired in the Heuer household but everything is going very well.  Noah went to the Dr. on Monday morning and was still at his discharge weight.  The Dr. was impressed with that saying that most babies lose a bit more after going home.  We are waking Noah every three hours for feedings and he is becoming a great little eater!  The first full day home with both boys was a bit of a challenge.  Isaiah just wasn't so sure about this new little life.  It has gotten better since that day but he still has moments when he tests the limits.  We are just so crazy about Noah and love both of our boys immensely.  What amazing blessings God has given us!

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!

We are so proud to announce the birth of Noah Jackson Heuer!  He was born at 10:13 p.m. on Thursday, April 16th!  He was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 21 inches long.  The labor and delivery went very quickly and mommy and baby are happy and healthy!  More details to come soon!

Here is our little family of FOUR! :)  (And yes, Isaiah is holding a little Coach purse - whatever keeps them happy at this point!)

Wonderful to me...

I just want to take the time to write about my amazing husband.  This pregnancy has been somewhat of a challenge for me, even though I haven't been "sick" I have not felt very well.  I just hurt the majority of the time.  I won't go into all the details or spend time talking about how rough it's been on me.  I want to focus more on the support and help Eric has given me!  The picture above is Eric massaging my back.  His thumbs had gone into cramping mode so he moved onto his elbows! :)  I wish I had a picture of last night but unfortunately I don't.  He took the time to give me a pedicure!  I desperately needed one and can't really get to my feet anymore!  Every night when he finishes up with work, he takes over the Isaiah duties so graciously.  He feeds, plays with, bathes, reads to, and puts Isaiah to bed.  He often helps clean up the kitchen after that.  He is just such a servant and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with a man who is compassionate and understanding.  I know that when our next precious boy arrives, Eric will continue to be the incredible, helpful, serving husband and father he has always been!  Thank you, Lord, for the man you have put in my life to travel this road together.  What a blessing!  

Eric, you are so wonderful to me and I love you with all my heart...

Easter 2009

We had a wonderful Easter this year in Florida!  Ian, Leah and Eli joined us at our church to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and then we went to Nonni and Nonno's for Easter afternoon/evening.  

Because I am ginormous and uncomfortable, I did not participate in the adult Easter egg hunt this year, but I did have the privilege of helping hide the eggs!

We tried to get a good family picture but our precious son decided it wasn't something he was too interested in!  I am putting just a few on here for you to see our struggle.  There are so many pictures of him squirming all over the place!  I think he may be like his daddy and despise getting family pictures taken!

As part of their Easter, the little boys received a water toy.  They loved playing in the water together!
Isaiah thought it was JUST as fun if not MORE fun to drink the water!
And then of course, there was the Easter egg hunt for the little ones!  I'm not real sure they completely understood the concept but they certainly had fun!  There were moments when they would even put eggs in the other one's basket!  They just loved running around the yard!  It was way too hot on Sunday for them to wear their "Easter outfits" so we let them go hunting in their diapers!

37 weeks

I went in for my 37 week check-up today and all looked well.  I am about 2 cm. dilated and baby was happy!  (Mommy was also pretty happy that there is some progress!)  I expressed some of my pain and discomfort to the doc and he said at next week's appointment we will figure out a day to "push the eject button" (those were his exact words)!!!  I think he can tell how uncomfortable I am and it looks like we have another healthy baby boy on our hands so we're going to figure out when we can get him out! :):)  That is, of course, unless he decides he would like to make his own grand appearance, which I would be totally ok with at this point!!!!!  
Isaiah and Eli got to spend some time outside today enjoying their "freedom"!  They loved playing in the sand and with the hose!  They were awfully cute out there!

36 weeks

Eric and I got to see our little boy yesterday and it was wonderful!  The doctor wanted to do a growth check to make sure everything was looking good and it was!  He looked extremely healthy and he put on quite the show for the ultrasound tech.  He was (AS ALWAYS!) so very active and she had a hard time getting a few of the shots she needed.  The doctor averaged that our little guy is weighing about 5 pounds, 4 ounces; said my fluids look great; and the placenta is not calcified yet so those are all great things!  I'm sorry the pictures are small but this is the best I could do. (you might be able to see them better if you click on them!)  I will try to describe them as best I can so you can make out what you are seeing!  The top picture is his little profile.  From right to left in that picture is his forehead, nose, top lip, tongue, bottom lip and chin.  In the second picture, same thing except tongue is not out.  In the bottom picture, this is the best she could do with a "full-frontal" because his head is down so low.  There is a black space on the far right and then you can see his nose, nostrils, lips and chin.  Once again, it appears as though this little boy will have full lips like his big brother (SO KISSABLE!) and as best we can tell from these grainy pictures, it looks like they might resemble each other!    

I have been having quite a few contractions lately and the doc said that is my body's way of keeping him head down so for that I am very thankful.  They often get to the point where I have to stop what I am doing and take deep breaths because they are quite overwhelming.  I just hope and pray I don't have to go FOUR more weeks, but of course, we just want him healthy!

Here is the 36 week belly.  Even though I am measuring right on track, I am feeling pretty large!  I just stick out so much!  I am getting more and more uncomfortable as the minutes tick past!  (YES, MINUTES!)  My night time sleep is really not going well right now.  The baby is lying directly on top of my bladder so I literally get up a handful of times each night.  Even though my sleep will be extremely interrupted once he arrives, I am looking forward to NOT having to go to the bathroom each time! :)  We are getting so very anxious to meet this precious miracle!  

There are FIVE women pregnant and due before the middle of July in our church.  The craziest part of this whole scenario is that we are ALLLLLLLLLLLL having BOYS!  I was talking with one of these girls the other day about the abundance of boys and she shared a conversation with me that she had had with a friend of hers (who is ALSO having a boy)!  Her friend pointed out that with the uneasiness and discord going on in our world, she believed that God was blessing God-fearing, Christian families with boys to raise to grow up and be Godly leaders for the next generation.  WOW!  What a thought and what a responsibility we have as parents to boys!  God give us wisdom as we raise these boys you have placed in our care!

I was taking this picture of Isaiah because he plopped right down next to Derby to play with his blocks.  When I was trying to get him to look at me, he started making this funny face!  Such a ham!
