We're 3/4 of the way there!!!

Week 30
Baby's Length: 11 to 17 in.
Baby's Weight: 3 lbs.
Baby's Size: Loaf of Bread

Your baby is now about 15 ½ inches long and weighs almost 3 pounds. His brain is still developing, as his head grows larger to accommodate it. Early lanugo is starting to disappear, as he begins to gain fat deposits to insulate his body temperature. His toenails and fingernails have grown long and his bone marrow is starting to function. Your baby can actually produce tears now, and he can move his eyes and head towards a bright light.

Your baby's swallowing and sucking skills are developing. The baby will spend about 80 per cent of his sleeping time in REM (dream) mode. If you are expecting a boy, his testicles are beginning to make their journey towards the groin area from their position near the kidneys. Your baby's immune system is beginning to develop. He is at his most active this week as there is still enough room to move about. There is lots of rapid brain development at this stage, as the nerve fibres develop to allow brain impulses to travel faster and so increase your baby's ability to learn.

Moving Right Along!!!

Week 29
Baby's Length:
10.5 to 16.75 in.
Baby's Weight: 2.75 lbs.
Baby's Size: Iron

This week, your baby’s head is finally in proportion with the rest of his body. He weighs about 2 3/4 pounds and is about 16 inches long. Fat continues to accumulate under the skin, to get him ready for that newborn baby look. His brain is able to control primitive breathing and body temperatures, and continues to grow billions of neurons, ready to make new connections with everything he sees, feels, touches, or hears.

His eyes can move in their sockets and he is becoming increasingly sensitive to changes in light, sound, taste, and smell. He is already developing his preferences and dislikes for particular tastes and odors. He may be a picky eater before he even comes out of the womb!

He is still actively moving and is head up. In the next few weeks, most babies make the transition to the head down birthing position. Before then, you will feel like he’s doing back flips in there. This is the time when the movement starts to get entertaining, and can feel very strange as well.

And entertaining it is!!! I get such a kick out of his movements and what makes him move. He is still very active after I've eaten and he loves his daddy's voice! I've heard people say that I will get tired of his movements. NO WAY!!! I LOVE it when he's active...even if it IS two o'clock in the morning! :)

I'm noticing more and more what a change I'm experiencing in body temperature. In the past, I've always been the one curled up on the couch wrapped up in a blanket but now I'm the one who is cranking the air down and throwing off the covers! I think I'm going to have to be very careful this summer not to get too hot! I've had several "hot flash" spells and they tend to make me nauseous so I want to avoid those as much as possible! I just can't express how wonderful it is to not feel nauseated ALL the time! I'm so glad that phase is over! Thank you, Jesus!

A Pregnant Date

This weekend we went on a

"pregnant date" with our good
friends, The Taflingers! They live in Kokomo so we met at Clay Terrace in Carmel and had a wonderful time! We had dinner and walked around and had GELATO!!! One of my favorites! They even had my favorite flavor, amaretto, so I was in heaven! :) It was so great to spend time with the Taflingers and talk pregnancy things! Lisa is 30 weeks and also has a very active, healthy little boy so it was fun to compare stories! The big boys were feeling a bit left out when we took pictures so we took one of them comparing their bellies!!!

On Friday, Eric and I went to our 28 week appointment. It seems like we can't just have a "routine" check-up anymore! I continue to have a healthy blood pressure and my weight gain to date is 12 pounds. I took my glucola test, which checks for gestational diabetes but I won't know the results for that until Monday or Tuesday. The doctor listened to our little boy's heartbeat again and it was a strong 150 beats per minute! And just because of what happened last time, she requested another (unexpected) non-stress test. I think this one was during his nap time though because they had to put a loud buzzer on my tummy to wake him up! And wake him up it did! He was quite a bit more active after that! And last but not least, they found another infection so I'm being treated for that again! At least this time, NO CONTRACTIONS and only one infection, NOT TWO! We are just so thankful that our little boy is healthy and we have no major issues to be concerned about!
Dear Father God,
We have confidence in You. You have promised that You care for everything about us and that You will help us through any situation we might face. We don't know what will happen in the next days, weeks, or months, but we do know that You are with our baby and with us. Take all our concerns and worries. Help us to focus on those aspects of preparing for safe labor and delivery that are in our control and to leave the rest to You. In Jesus' name...Amen.

28 weeks

OK, so I've had several complaints about the fruits and vegetables I've been putting on the blog so today I will just put facts about our precious one this week!

Baby's Length: 10 to 16 in.
Baby's Weight: 2.5 lbs.
Baby's Size: Hair Dryer

As your belly gets larger, that now-heavier-than-two-pound baby you've got hanging out in your uterus is stacking on the fat. What's more, they can sense light, blink (with their little eyelashes!) and move their head in response to bright light shone on your belly. You, on the other hand, are having more difficulty moving and would do well to sit down, put up your feet, and make sure you've got a good name for your little one! Also, their industrious little bone marrow is now a major construction site for developing red blood cells, while their super-cute adrenal glands are actually producing androgen and estrogen—which will stimulate your hormones to begin milk production. Can you say, “Moo?”

Happy Mother's Day!!!

This past weekend, the Heuer family made a trip down to lovely Evansville to celebrate Mother's Day. We had a wonderful time with lots of family. We even went to Southern Illinois for the day on Saturday to see extended family. It was great to see everyone again. It had been since Christmas that we saw extended family. And none of them had seen my belly!

On Sunday, Eric had to work his open house but that night, he made a very special evening for me! It was an evening for just the two of us and he planned a great dinner at Cheesecake Factory (one of my favorites)! We had a great time there and then went on to get me a snow cone before heading home!!! Yes, I'm still craving cold and slushy things! :) He also had two very precious cards for me. One from him and one from our little man! They were both so sweet and it was so thoughtful of Eric to treat me so special on Mother's Day! I have an awesome husband and I praise our God for him! He is so understanding of my aches and pains and pregnancy antics! Thank you, Jesus for the gift of my husband!

This coming Friday we have our 28 weeks appointment, which means we only have 12 weeks left to go!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!! What a thought! They will be doing a blood test this week as well as checking on our little guy to make sure he's growing properly! I will keep you all updated!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Much Love to You All!!!

More Graduation Pics

My sister has three great college friends who also have pregnant sisters so we took a "Grads and Prego Sisters" shot last weekend!

I also couldn't resist putting the picture on here of Keely touching my belly. She is a precious family friend who was trying to feel for my sweet baby boy's movements. I'm not sure she ever felt him but we sure captured a great picture from it!

27 Weeks

Our Precious one this week:

Baby's Length: 10 to 15.5 in.
Baby's Weight: 2.25 lbs.
Baby's Size: Ear of Corn

Well, it has been an eventful week in my pregnancy. I have started experiencing the third trimester aches and pains in full force! I wake up several times in the night for various reasons. Either I have a charlie horse, a back ache, a leg ache, or I have to go to the bathroom. I now take up 3/4 of our bed with me and my HUGE pregnancy pillow! Eric and Derby only have 1/4 of the bed and it may come to a point where I'm sleeping alone! :) I'm pretty sure that gone are the days when I sleep really soundly throughout the entire night! I've also experienced my first "stranger touching my belly" episode. I must really be popping out this week because I have had numerous comments from strangers about being pregnant. People usually ask if we know the sex of the baby and then they proceed to ask if we have a name and when I inform them we don't, they give me their best name ideas! Thank you for the input!

This past Saturday, my sister Jessica graduated from college! CONGRATS little sis! It was a big day for our entire family. Jessica is now entering the "real work world", mom and dad now have no more tuition payments, and Jess' husband David is thrilled to have another income rolling in! The ceremony was very long and even though I didn't "do" much, I was exhausted when it was all said and done! Needless to say, I didn't do much on Sunday!

Eric and I have another Dr.'s appointment next Friday and hopefully this time, our little boy doesn't give us any drama!

Much love to you all!!!

Baby Practice!

Last night Eric and I went over to our niece and nephew's house to play with them while they're parents went out shopping! It was a wonderful practice time for us! Eric and Kate played outside and read lots of books together. Nick and I basically snuggled the whole time! Thank you Kate and Nick for inviting us over to play! Our little boy can't wait to meet you both and get big enough to play with you, too! We love you!!!
